This aligns with the UAE’s historic ‘UAE Consensus’ from COP28, which focused on reducing carbon emissions and conserving natural resources.

A Vision for Global Energy Efficiency

Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI), shared details during the UAE’s pavilion events at COP29 in Azerbaijan.

He stated that the alliance emerged from a global demand to improve energy efficiency, with several countries welcoming the initiative.

The UAE will play a key role in the alliance by sharing best practices, promoting public-private partnerships, and fostering knowledge transfer. Al Olama urged governments, organizations, and leaders worldwide to join the alliance, setting ambitious goals to drive investments in energy efficiency and develop policies and technologies to achieve sustainability.

Focus on African Nations and Global Goals

The alliance will emphasize knowledge sharing, capacity building, and innovative financing, especially for African countries. By creating a platform for collaboration, the UAE aims to reduce carbon emissions, promote sustainable resource use, and accelerate energy efficiency globally.
