Dubai Police have ramped up their efforts to tackle illegal vehicle modifications, seizing 23 vehicles and three motorbikes in just 24 hours. This operation, spearheaded by the General Department of Traffic in partnership with Al Khawaneej Police Station and the General Department of Operations, was initiated in response to complaints about loud noises and disturbances in the Al Khawaneej area.

Illegal Modifications: A Growing Concern
The vehicles that were impounded were found to have unauthorized modifications that significantly increased engine noise levels, disrupting the peace in residential neighborhoods and posing safety hazards on the roads.

These modifications, often intended to boost performance or improve appearance, frequently overlook legal and environmental standards. The consequences include excessive noise, diminished road safety, and a negative effect on the quality of life for nearby residents.

Police Statement
A spokesperson for Dubai Police highlighted the significance of these operations in ensuring public safety and peace:

“Illegal vehicle modifications not only disrupt communities but also endanger road safety. Dubai Police are dedicated to tackling these violations through regular inspections and prompt action.”

Community Support and Reporting Violations
Dubai Police have encouraged the public to report any vehicles that cause disturbances or engage in reckless driving. Residents can utilize the Dubai Police app or call the non-emergency hotline 901 to submit complaints.

Penalties for Violations
Owners of the seized vehicles will face substantial penalties, which include:

Fines of up to AED 2,000.
12 black points on their driving license.
Vehicle impoundment for up to 30 days.
Additionally, offenders may be required to bring their vehicles back into compliance with legal standards at their own cost.

Promoting Safer Roads
This initiative supports Dubai Police’s overall goal of improving road safety, minimizing noise pollution, and ensuring that traffic laws are followed. Ongoing campaigns are taking place throughout the city to catch violators and inform drivers about the significance of complying with legal vehicle standards.

Future Initiatives
Dubai Police intends to introduce additional strategies, such as advanced monitoring technologies and public awareness campaigns, to more effectively address the problem of illegal modifications.
