Key Highlights from DXB’s 2024 Performance

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, emphasized the success of DXB, crediting its growth, resilience, and service quality. He noted the airport’s focus on direct traffic, which reflects Dubai’s emergence as a global destination for tourism, business, and living. The commitment to customer service and advanced technology continues to position DXB as a preferred travel hub.

Griffiths stated, “Our people are at the heart of this success. Their dedication and teamwork have driven record-breaking numbers, ensuring DXB remains a global leader. The airport continues to invest in superior hospitality and technological upgrades to enhance the travel experience.”

Third-Quarter Growth

The momentum from earlier in 2024 carried into Q3, with 23.7 million passengers traveling through DXB, bringing the year-to-date total to 68.6 million — a 6.3% increase compared to 2023.

Flight operations also grew, with 327,700 flights in the first nine months, reflecting a 6.4% rise. Innovations like biometrics and real-time tracking systems have contributed to smoother passenger experiences.

Leading Markets and Destinations

India topped the list with 8.9 million passengers, followed by Saudi Arabia with 5.6 million (15.2% growth) and the UK with 4.6 million. Key city destinations included London (2.9 million guests), Riyadh (2.3 million, a 25.8% increase), and Mumbai (1.8 million). DXB also handled 60.1 million bags with a 99.3% accuracy rate, highlighting its operational efficiency.

Focus on Direct Traffic

DXB anticipates 23.2 million passengers in the final quarter, with 60% of the traffic expected to be direct. Major events like GITEX Global, New Year’s Eve celebrations, and the cruise season are key drivers. Additional flights and new airline routes, including ITA Airways and Hainan Airlines, further boost DXB’s global connectivity.

Outlook for 2025

DXB is poised to end 2024 with 91.9 million passengers, solidifying its position as the world’s busiest international airport for the 10th consecutive year. The airport’s growth mirrors Dubai’s rise as a global hub for tourism, business, and long-term living. With this strong performance, DXB is well-positioned to lead in 2025, redefining the travel experience with ongoing innovation.

Why It Matters: Dubai International Airport’s success showcases the city’s role as a global powerhouse, drawing visitors from around the world with its unmatched connectivity, vibrant events, and world-class infrastructure.
