Bollywood actor Bobby Deol, now 55, is enjoying a resurgence in his career, embracing unconventional and gritty roles that redefine his star power. His latest project, Kanguva, a Tamil-language warrior epic featuring Suriya, showcases him in a fierce and raw character, marking a significant shift from his romantic hero roles in the ‘90s Bollywood scene.

In an exclusive interview with Gulf News, Bobby referred to himself as a “late bloomer,” revealing that he faced challenges with ambition and competitiveness in the film industry during his twenties. “My family and I are straightforward people. I never believed in competing. I always thought everyone should be working, and I shouldn’t take away someone else’s opportunities. But the industry was all about competition, which affected me,” he shared.

Bobby’s personal growth has been remarkable. After experiencing box-office failures and long breaks, he made a strong comeback with OTT hits like Aashram, attributing his progress to maturity and resilience. “You learn to evolve with age,” he noted.

His transformation continues with Kanguva, where Bobby plays a fierce antagonist in a historical setting and delivers an intense physical and emotional performance. Directed by Siva, the Tamil warrior epic promises a visually stunning narrative. “It’s a role that challenged me in ways I never anticipated,” Bobby expressed.

Bobby’s recent career path highlights his ability to reinvent himself. “At this point in my life, I want to take risks and try new things. I don’t want to be remembered solely as a Bollywood romantic hero,” he stated.

With Kanguva on the way and fans eager for his dynamic collaboration with Tamil superstar Suriya, Bobby Deol demonstrates that it’s never too late to find your footing and redefine success. His journey is a testament to perseverance and the courage to evolve, inspiring fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry.
