UAE Visa Amnesty: Who Qualifies for the Grace Period Ending Dec 31?

As the deadline for the extended visa amnesty approaches, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security has provided important eligibility information. This grace period, which started in September and will end on December 31, 2024, allows those who have violated residency and visa regulations to either regularize their status or leave the country without facing fines.

However, individuals who broke residency or visa laws after September 1 will not be eligible for this exemption. The authority has also pointed out that three additional categories of violators are excluded from the amnesty. While the details of these excluded categories have not been revealed, the directive highlights the necessity of taking action quickly to avoid penalties.

Amnesty applicants are increasingly visiting the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) counters, including the one in Al Awir, Dubai. With only a few weeks remaining until the deadline, residents are encouraged to check their eligibility and make the most of this initiative designed to encourage compliance with UAE residency laws.

What You Need to Know:
Deadline: December 31, 2024, is the final day to take advantage of the amnesty program.
Eligibility: Those who violated laws before September 1, 2024, can regularize their status or leave without fines.
Exclusions: Violators after September 1 and three other categories are not eligible.
This initiative is part of the UAE’s larger efforts to enhance immigration compliance and maintain national security. Residents and visitors should reach out to the appropriate authorities for specific guidance regarding their situations.

Stay informed and act quickly to ensure compliance before the amnesty period ends. For updates and assistance, visit GDRFA offices or check their official website.
