Trump’s proposed mass deportation plan could significantly impact U.S. economic growth

Trump’s proposed mass deportation plan could significantly impact U.S. economic growth, particularly in industries that depend on foreign labor, such as agriculture and construction, analysts warn. Estimates from U.S. authorities indicate that around 11 million unauthorized immigrants reside in the United States, with a large portion originating from Mexico.

In 2022, about 8.3 million of these individuals were part of the labor force, representing nearly five percent of the total workforce, according to the Pew Research Center. Experts suggest that removing these workers could result in labor shortages, which may impede growth in sectors that rely on their contributions.

The uncertainty surrounding Trump’s immigration policies has already created anxiety among immigrant communities and business sectors, as worries mount over the potential economic fallout from mass deportations.
