UAE Marks 53rd National Day with Release of Over 3,000 Inmates

Dubai’s Ruler has ordered the release of 1,169 prisoners from correctional and penal institutions across the emirate to mark the 53rd UAE National Day. The decision covers inmates from various nationalities, giving them a chance to start afresh.

In Fujairah, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah and Member of the Supreme Council, ordered the release of 118 prisoners from the Penal and Reformative Institution. This initiative focuses on providing prisoners with a fresh start and spreading happiness among their families.

Similarly, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed directed the release of 2,269 inmates earlier this week, while Sharjah’s Ruler ordered the release of 683 prisoners. These steps reflect the UAE’s commitment to offering opportunities for a better future to those who demonstrate good behavior and are eligible for release.

To further support the released inmates, Dubai’s Ruler pledged to cover all fines and penalties associated with their sentences, ensuring a smooth transition back into society.

The UAE recently issued a Federal Decree-Law to strengthen the role of penal and correctional institutions in helping inmates integrate into society while safeguarding their rights. The law aims to empower inmates and support their journey toward rehabilitation.

This compassionate move not only gives prisoners a new beginning but also brings relief and joy to their families during this significant national occasion.
