UAE Issues Advisory on the Validity of Exit Permits for Amnesty Applicants

The UAE government has released an important advisory concerning the validity of exit permits for those applying for amnesty and looking to leave the country after regularizing their residency status. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has highlighted that the exit permits issued during the status adjustment grace period are only valid for 14 days. Individuals seeking to exit the UAE are strongly advised to utilize this timeframe accordingly.

As part of the ongoing amnesty initiative, individuals who have been living in the UAE without proper documentation now have the chance to regularize their status. For those opting to leave the country, the ICP has established clear guidelines to ensure a smooth exit permit process. The 14-day validity period starts from the date the permit is issued, and applicants must ensure their departure occurs within this window to avoid any issues.

The advisory also encourages amnesty applicants to take advantage of the user-friendly e-service available for applying for their exit permits. This online platform simplifies the process, enabling applicants to submit their requests and monitor the status of their permits without needing to visit physical offices. The e-service is designed to make the exit process quicker and more efficient for those leaving the UAE after regularizing their status.

The UAE’s amnesty program seeks to offer a pathway to legal residency or an orderly exit for individuals who have overstayed their visas, providing a fresh start for those who adhere to the regulations. The reminder regarding exit permit validity ensures that all applicants are well-informed and can navigate the process smoothly within the specified timeframe.
