A new lane has been added to Beirut Street in Dubai, reducing travel time by 30%

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a significant traffic enhancement on Beirut Street, cutting travel time by 30%. A new lane has been added along a 3km stretch from Al Nahda Street to Amman Street in the northbound direction, boosting the road’s capacity from 4,500 to 6,000 vehicles per hour.

This expansion is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to improve quality of life and meet the demands of its growing population. The project also features a storage lane at the intersection of Baghdad and Beirut Streets, which helps to streamline traffic flow and accommodate more vehicles.

These improvements will greatly benefit commuters and residents in nearby areas such as Muhaisnah, Al Qusais, Al Twar, and the Al Qusais Industrial Area. Travel time along Beirut Street towards the Airport Tunnel, Baghdad Street, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road has decreased from 18 minutes to just 12 minutes, easing congestion and enhancing traffic flow during peak hours.

As part of a broader initiative for 2024, this project showcases the RTA’s commitment to using data to tackle urban mobility issues. Real-time traffic analysis, community feedback, and on-the-ground observations have informed a series of rapid traffic solutions at 72 locations throughout Dubai, further establishing the city’s reputation for transportation innovation.
