UAE companies are increasingly prioritizing employee wellbeing, understanding its direct link to business success. A recent survey by global healthcare management leader Bupa Global found that 94% of senior leaders in the UAE acknowledged the tangible benefits of wellness initiatives on employee performance and productivity. Notably, 88% of these leaders intend to increase their investments in wellbeing over the coming year.

Dean Pollard, General Manager of Bupa Global Middle East and Asia, emphasizes the changing view on workplace wellness: “Wellbeing programmes are no longer a luxury but a necessary investment to cultivate a healthier, more resilient workforce, ultimately driving business success.” The results indicate that focusing on holistic initiatives not only enhances employee health but also decreases absenteeism and increases engagement.

A Winning Strategy for AllIntegrating strategies like flexible work policies, wellness workshops, and extended parental leave has demonstrated significant organizational advantages. More than half (53%) of the surveyed leaders reported noticeable productivity improvements, 49% noted heightened employee engagement, and 36% experienced reduced absenteeism. Furthermore, nearly a third (29%) recognized lower employee turnover rates, highlighting the long-term benefits of these initiatives.

The survey also points to a shift in corporate attitudes, viewing employee wellbeing as a fundamental factor in retention and satisfaction. As Pollard states, “When companies invest in holistic wellbeing initiatives, they see real health returns — both in terms of reduced absenteeism and improved performance.”

Path to a Resilient WorkforceThis increase in wellbeing investments aligns with the UAE’s growing emphasis on work-life balance and sustainable workplace practices. Companies are now utilizing wellness programmes as strategic assets to attract and retain top talent, fostering a culture that values both personal health and professional development. As more businesses in the region embrace these practices.
