Saudi Arabia’s announcement of a private jet as the grand prize for the Al Shadad camel competition at the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival marks a significant milestone in the realm of camel contests. Set to return after a year-long break, this esteemed event will reward the owner of the winning “Manqiyat Al-Jazeera” herd not only with the luxurious jet but also with the unique opportunity to meet the festival’s patron.

Fahd bin Hathleen, Chairman of the Camel Club, highlighted the dual importance of the prize, merging its material splendor with cultural significance. The festival, known for honoring Saudi Arabia’s rich camel heritage, is taking a modern turn this year with the introduction of advanced digital technology through the “Raei Al Nathar” platform. This innovative tool, designed for camel contests, facilitates seamless management and enhances audience engagement, further emphasizing the role of camels in the region’s identity.

The Al Shadad competition, regarded as the pinnacle of camel contests, has been revitalized with state-of-the-art technology and a public-driven nomination process, enabling enthusiasts to vote for their favorite herds. This inclusive approach underscores the importance of public involvement in preserving and promoting the cultural legacy of the Arabian Peninsula.

Coinciding with the 2024 Year of the Camel, the festival aims to reignite competitive spirit and showcase the historical significance of camels, while also highlighting Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening its cultural heritage on a global platform.
