The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has confirmed that organic carrots in local markets are free from E. coli contamination. This assurance comes as part of the ministry’s commitment to food safety.
In a statement on X, the Ministry said, “We work closely with relevant authorities to ensure all food products meet strict health and technical standards.”
Meanwhile, in the United States, the CDC is investigating a multistate outbreak of E. coli O121 infections linked to certain brands of organic whole bagged carrots and baby carrots. These products were recalled from a farm known as Grimmway Farms.
What is E. coli, and What Are the Symptoms?
E. coli symptoms typically include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (often bloody), and vomiting. These signs generally appear 3 to 4 days after the bacteria is consumed.
While most people recover in 5 to 7 days without medical treatment, some cases may lead to serious kidney issues requiring hospitalization, the CDC warns.
