Complete 2024 Guide: How to Apply for a Maid or Nanny Visa in the UAE

Bringing a maid or nanny to the UAE in 2024 has become more straightforward, but it still involves specific processes, fees, and documentation. Whether you’re sponsoring a domestic worker for the first time or renewing a visa, this detailed guide will assist you in navigating the Tadbeer centres, which are authorized by the UAE government to manage domestic worker services.

Sponsoring a maid or nanny in the UAE starts with a visit to one of the licensed Tadbeer centres. These centres handle the processing of new employment visas, renewals, and a variety of domestic worker services. To apply, you need to meet the eligibility criteria for sponsorship, which includes having a minimum income level as required by UAE law.

To ensure a smooth application process, gather a complete set of documents. This should include:
– A copy of your Emirates ID and residency visa.
– Passport copies for both the sponsor and the domestic worker.
– A passport-sized photo of the worker.
– The worker’s health fitness certificate.
– Proof of the sponsor’s income, such as a salary certificate or labor contract.
– A tenancy contract (Ejari) for housing verification.

The costs associated with a domestic worker’s visa can vary based on the Tadbeer service package selected. Be prepared to pay for visa issuance, medical testing, Emirates ID application, and annual health insurance. These expenses typically range from AED 5,000 to AED 8,000 per year, not including the worker’s salary and accommodation.

To comply with UAE labor laws, make sure to provide fair wages, a proper work environment, and adhere to guidelines regarding weekly days off and annual leave. Failing to meet legal obligations can lead to fines or visa cancellation.
