Ten new maternity centres have been opened in Afghanistan as part of the UAE’s ongoing Comprehensive Development Program. This initiative focuses on improving essential infrastructure in various sectors, with a strong emphasis on healthcare services.

These centres are spread across multiple provinces, including Herat, Kandahar, Paktia, Jalalabad, Helmand, Paktika, and Mazar-i-Sharif, providing much-needed access to maternal healthcare in these regions.

A baby girl born at the newly inaugurated maternity centre in Mazar-i-Sharif was named Fatima, honoring Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation. Her birth came just a day after the centre’s official opening, symbolizing the positive impact of this initiative.

UAE’s Commitment to Global Healthcare Support

Reem Bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, UAE’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, highlighted the country’s dedication to helping communities in need. Inspired by the humanitarian vision of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE aims to deliver essential healthcare services to underserved populations worldwide.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the 10 maternity centres were officially opened on December 2, marking UAE National Day, as a testament to the country’s commitment to global humanitarian efforts.
