Dubai has unveiled a major plan to create a comprehensive walking network, continuing its efforts to become a more pedestrian-friendly city. This announcement follows the emirate’s ongoing initiative to make the city bicycle-friendly.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, shared the exciting news on X (formerly Twitter). He revealed that a massive 3,300km network of walkways will be developed under the project called “Dubai Walk.”

This ambitious project will kick off in two key locations: the Museum of the Future and Al Ras. The plan aims to enhance walkability across Dubai and includes several features to support this goal. These include:

  • 110 pedestrian bridges and tunnels
  • 112km of scenic waterfront pathways
  • 124km of lush green walking trails
  • 150km of rural and mountainous walking paths

The initiative marks another step toward making Dubai a city where walking and outdoor activities are more accessible and enjoyable.
