The UAE has strongly condemned the tragic attack on the Ministry of Refugees in Afghanistan, which resulted in the death of Refugee Minister Khalil Rahman Haqqani and several others.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed the UAE’s firm condemnation of such acts of violence and terrorism, emphasizing its rejection of all forms of aggression and extremism.
The ministry also extended heartfelt condolences to the people of Afghanistan, particularly to the families of the victims affected by this devastating incident.
Khalil Rahman Haqqani lost his life in a suicide bombing, a brutal act later claimed by Daesh.
Taliban authorities labeled the bombing a “cowardly attack,” marking it as the first targeting a senior minister since the Taliban regained power in 2021.
Although violence in Afghanistan has reduced since the Taliban took control and ended years of conflict with US-led NATO forces, a regional branch of Daesh remains active, frequently targeting civilians, foreigners, and Taliban officials through gun and bomb attacks.
The United Nations also condemned the attack, highlighting the need for peace in Afghanistan. “There can be no place for terrorism in the quest for stability,” the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) stated on X, while expressing sympathies to the victims’ families.
