The busiest day will likely be December 20 (Friday), with around 296,000 travelers passing through. The weekend from December 20 to 22 will also see heavy traffic, with about 880,000 guests. On average, 274,000 passengers are expected to fly in and out of DXB daily during the festive season.

How to Prepare for a Smooth Trip

With such high numbers expected, travelers are urged to follow these tips for a hassle-free journey:

1. Check In Early

  • Emirates passengers can take advantage of home check-in, early check-in, or city check-in services.
  • If flying with other airlines, arrive at the airport no earlier than three hours before departure.

2. Organize Your Baggage

  • Place metal items and electronics in your hand luggage to speed up security checks.
  • Follow rules for liquids, aerosols, and gels.
  • Keep portable electronics, power banks, and spare batteries in your hand luggage, as they are not allowed in checked bags.
  • Check baggage allowances and airline policies to avoid surprises.

3. Prepare Travel Documents

  • Create a checklist for your travel documents and organize everything in advance.

4. Know the Airport Rules

  • Say your goodbyes at home since only passengers can enter the terminals during peak times.
  • Families with children over 12 can use the smart gates to speed up passport control.

Festive Atmosphere at DXB

Despite the expected rush, DXB promises to maintain its renowned exceptional experience.

Essa Al Shamsi, Senior Vice-President of Terminal Operations at Dubai Airports, said, “Delivering the exceptional experience that DXB is known for during peak travel periods is always a challenge, but one we are well-prepared to meet.”

Travelers can enjoy a festive atmosphere, with Terminal 3’s Family Zone transforming into a winter wonderland. Festivities include:

  • A fusion performance of carollers and beatboxers.
  • A Magic Station for gift-wrapping and photo opportunities.
  • Performances by a Nutcracker marching band and more.

These activities aim to make every traveler’s journey memorable and enjoyable. Plan ahead and enjoy the festive vibes at DXB while ensuring a smooth travel experience.
