Abu Dhabi Clamps Down: Five Restaurants, Supermarket Closed Over Food Safety Flaws

In a bold step to maintain public health standards, five restaurants and a supermarket were shut down by Abu Dhabi authorities after finding serious food safety violations. The restaurants were closed under Law No. (2) of 2008, which controls food safety legislation throughout the emirate.

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) inspected the outlets and determined that they did not meet hygiene requirements, food handling practices, and storage standards. These violations were direct threats to consumer health and necessitated action.

Authorities assured that the affected premises will be kept closed until all the safety measures are fulfilled and complete compliance is attained. Only after detailed re-inspection and approval by ADAFSA will reopening be allowed.

This move is a wake-up call to all food businesses in Abu Dhabi that non-negotiable compliance with food safety regulations is imperative. The public is asked to report any suspicious activity or observation about the quality of food to ensure a safe and healthy eating place.
