The Abu Dhabi Police are introducing a new awareness campaign that draws attention to the risks involved with the misuse of electronic scooters, particularly in busy traffic areas and areas frequented by pedestrians.
As e-scooters become increasingly popular in the UAE, authorities have registered a spate of accidents due to rash riding, neglecting traffic rules, and riding in no-ride zones. The police reiterated that riders should wear helmets, follow designated paths, and not use mobile phones while riding.
The campaign also addresses parents, calling on them to make children and youth aware of the dangers of unattended or unsafe use of scooters, especially on highways. The authorities are in collaboration with schools and community centers to further encourage practices of safe mobility.
Abu Dhabi Police reaffirmed their commitment to public security, emphasizing that offenders can be fined or prosecuted. The campaign is part of an overall effort to develop a culture of responsibility and road safety in the capital.
