Abu Dhabi Police Warn Public: New Scams Involving Watches, Fake Jobs

Abu Dhabi Police issued a new warning to residents regarding new fraud techniques being employed by scammers in the UAE. The new tricks include fake high-end watches sold online and false job postings intended to get money and personal data from unsuspecting victims.

The authorities announced that the criminals are using social media sites and messaging apps to trick people with false promises of selling high-quality watches at very low prices or getting guaranteed jobs with good salaries. The victims are requested to pay advance charges or share sensitive identification information.

The police warned these scams are increasingly sophisticated with tricksters using dummy business accounts and fraudulent documentation in a bid to gain people’s trust. Locals are reminded to be wary, check for genuine sellers and recruiters, and report suspicious deals promptly.

Part of their constant effort to maintain public safety, Abu Dhabi Police remain committed to reminding the public via campaigns and digital warnings not to fall victim to scams and always to transact through proper, verified means.
