Abu Dhabi School Break: Learn Arabic and Create Art at Suhail Star Camps

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has launched its School Break Camps Programme, offering a variety of fun and educational camps for students during school breaks. This initiative brings together top organisations to create enriching experiences, focusing on impactful and enjoyable learning beyond the classroom.

Building on the success of previous summer camps, ADEK aims to offer these programs every school break, supporting students’ overall growth and equipping them with skills for future success.

Camps Starting December 16, 2024

The camps will kick off on Monday, December 16, featuring activities across multiple areas such as arts, sports, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), Arabic literacy, culinary arts, and environmental education. These camps are designed to keep students engaged in meaningful learning.

List of Camps for Students

1. Art Lab Camp

Students will collaborate with organisations like Louvre Abu Dhabi to create artwork inspired by the Suhail Star and Khaleeji mythology, fostering creativity and cultural understanding.

2. Space Camp

This camp offers scientific and creative activities, focusing on teamwork and innovative thinking.

3. Sports Camp

Specialised training sessions in football, basketball, and swimming will be provided by experts like Manchester City, Sport 360, and Storm Academy. Exceptional performers will get the chance to join ADEK’s talent identification programme and train with elite coaches.

4. Culinary School Camp

Organised by ICCA, this camp provides a hands-on experience in cooking, pastry, and food photography. Students will also enhance their skills in math, chemistry, and visual arts.

5. Arabic Reading Camp

Run by the Almubarakah Foundation, this camp focuses on strengthening Arabic literacy through interactive activities. For younger participants, the Beit Arabi Winter Discovery Camp offers a two-week program featuring Arabic language, drama, and creative skills.

6. Environmental Heroes Camp

Led by Gracia Farm, students will learn about sustainability through activities like eco-tours, recycling projects, and conservation efforts, encouraging a commitment to environmental care.

7. AI and Machine Learning Camps

High school students can join cutting-edge AI and machine learning camps in collaboration with leading universities. Some highlights include:

  • AI for Tomorrow Camp by 42 Abu Dhabi, starting with an intensive programming bootcamp and ending with an AI Hackathon.
  • Other STEM-focused camps include AI for a Sustainable Future by Khalifa University, AI Discovery Programme by the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Prompt Engineering by UAE University, and AI Winter Camp by Abu Dhabi University.

These camps aim to boost students’ technical skills and prepare them for a future driven by technology.
