Abu Dhabi has made a revolutionary “Declaration on Longevity and Precision Medicine” launch at the 2025 Global Health Week in an effort to revolutionize the world’s healthcare by enabling healthier, longer lives through tailored medicine.
The statement speaks to the need to close the gap between healthspan and lifespan, which is presently almost a decade globally. The role of precision medicine in doing this cannot be overstated. The market size globally is expected to expand from $81 billion in 2023 to more than $175 billion by 2030.
Important pillars of the statement are to promote research and innovation, improve cooperation, invest in education and training, promote supportive policies, ensure ethical practice, and involve the public in aging research. The aim of these efforts is to make healthcare more personalized, increase disease prevention, speed up diagnoses, and maximize treatment effectiveness.
The UAE’s position in this regard is demonstrated through moves such as the world’s first licensed Healthy Longevity Medicine Centre in Abu Dhabi and the creation of new regulatory models. Governments, health agencies, and stakeholders globally are invited to endorse and sign the declaration, reflecting an important move towards a future of proactive, personalized medicine.
