His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, continues to champion initiatives aimed at empowering Emirati talent in the media industry.
At a recent meeting with leaders of partner organisations in the ‘Emirati Media Talent Pledge’ initiative, His Highness discussed expanding opportunities for Emirati professionals to shape the UAE’s media landscape.
Supporting Emirati Media Talent
His Highness emphasized that fostering Emirati talent and increasing their contributions to the media sector is a shared national responsibility aligned with the UAE leadership’s vision. He highlighted the importance of strengthening Emirati capabilities while encouraging the private sector’s role in driving sustainable growth across various industries.
Welcoming the new entities joining the initiative, His Highness said their participation reflects a strong commitment to empowering young national talent to take an active role in the development of the media sector.
Expanding Partnerships
The ‘Emirati Media Talent Pledge’ continues to grow, with recent additions such as Al Mashhad TV, Yango, and OSN Network (which includes Anghami), bringing the total number of participating entities to over 30.
Partner organisations praised the Dubai Media Council for its role in launching initiatives that provide opportunities for Emirati talent and commended the pledge’s goal of building a stronger national media presence.
MoU Signing to Boost Emirati Talent
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Dubai Media Council and the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council. This collaboration aims to create employment opportunities for Emirati media professionals in the private sector.
The MoU was signed by His Excellency Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council, and Her Excellency Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed commended the role of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council and its ‘Nafis Program’, which plays a pivotal role in enhancing Emirati talent competitiveness and helping them secure private-sector opportunities.
Strategic Goals of the Partnership
Her Excellency Mona Al Marri explained that the collaboration with Nafis is a strategic step to empower Emirati media professionals. She emphasized the importance of equipping Emiratis with the skills needed to succeed in the evolving media landscape. The MoU outlines efforts to:
- Facilitate private media organisations’ registration on the Nafis platform.
- Offer training and practical experience for enrolled Emirati talent.
- Promote awareness through workshops and events.
Driving Emiratisation in Media
The initiative focuses on mentorship, internships, and job opportunities for Emirati students and young professionals. It aims to bridge the gap between education and the demands of the media industry, preparing skilled Emiratis for leadership roles.
