Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton’s father, Anthony Hamilton, shared profound sympathy for up-and-coming driver Isack Hadjar following the talented youngster’s harrowing F1 debut disappointment. Hadjar, who wowed as the fastest rookie through both opening free practices, had his highly promoted weekend cut short in the wake of unexpected technical trouble.

Hamilton, who has guided a number of young drivers, revealed that seeing Hadjar’s disappointment evoked strong paternal emotions. “I felt for him like a father,” he explained, admiring Hadjar’s raw ability and grit despite the unfortunate twist of fate. Hamilton went on to say that setbacks such as these are part of a driver’s development, urging Hadjar to remain tough.

Hadjar’s practice speed attracted teams and onlookers, with numerous people heralding him as a future threat in Formula 1. His capacity to outpace other rookies under difficult track conditions demonstrated his potential, generating excitement about his next chance on the F1 grid.

Hamilton ended by reminding the world of motorsport of the hard path young drivers tend to travel. “It’s about learning from these times and returning stronger,” he added, reiterating his view that Hadjar’s F1 breakthrough is simply a question of time.
