As reported by Indian media, AR Rahman’s wife, Saira Banu, has announced her separation from the renowned music composer, director, and singer after 29 years of marriage.

Banu’s lawyer shared a statement with India Today, revealing that emotional challenges had impacted their nearly three-decade-long relationship.

The couple, who were married in 1995 through an arranged match, have three children—Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen.

The statement read:

“After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband, Mr. AR Rahman. This choice stems from significant emotional strain in their relationship.”

It added:

“Despite their love for each other, the ongoing tensions have created a gap too wide to bridge. Mrs. Saira expressed that this decision comes from a place of pain and agony.”

Saira Banu also requested privacy and understanding during this challenging phase as she begins this new chapter in her life.

The last time Rahman shared a photo with his wife was on Instagram, during Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding.
