An arrest warrant has been issued against former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa in a case related to alleged fraud involving employees’ Provident Fund (PF).
As the director of Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Private Limited, Uthappa is accused of deducting PF contributions from employees’ salaries but failing to deposit the amounts into their accounts. Authorities claim the company owes ₹2,326,000 in damages and are working to recover this amount from him.
On December 4, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner Shadakshiri Gopala Reddy sent a directive to the Pulakeshi Nagar Police to arrest Uthappa. Acting on the letter, the police visited his residence to serve a notice but found that he no longer resides there.
The Commissioner’s statement highlighted that non-payment of these dues has prevented the settlement of PF accounts for affected workers. It requested the police to enforce the arrest warrant in the jurisdiction where Uthappa currently lives.
Robin Uthappa, a notable cricketer who played 59 matches for India and became a fan favorite in the Indian Premier League, now faces serious allegations tied to his business dealings.
