The Decreto Flussi visa programme has been expanded significantly by the Italian Cabinet, permitting 497,550 work permits for non-EU foreigners between 2026 and 2028. This is a huge increase from the 450,000 visas awarded during the previous three-year period.
Why Now?
Italy is opening its doors wider in response to a declining workforce, which is a result of an ageing population and a 281,000 birth-death shortfall in 2024, as well as increasing manpower shortages in industries including healthcare, construction, tourism, and agriculture. 164,850 visas will be granted in 2026 alone.
Opportunities for Jobseekers in the UAE and Worldwide
Residents of the UAE, especially those in the hotel industry, professionals, and carers, might gain a lot. These visas open the door to long-term employment and residency in one of Europe’s biggest economies, including both skilled and unskilled labour, including seasonal and self-employment positions.
Strategic, Legal, and Controlled
The programme places a strong emphasis on lawful migration, closely collaborating with unions and businesses, and tying visa distribution to actual labour market need. To safeguard migrants and the integrity of the system, Italy is enforcing tougher anti-fraud and repatriation laws while also taking tough measures against irregular entries.
