Chelsea eyeing Ekitike and Maignan in big-money transfer shake-up

Chelsea Football Club is looking to sign two high-profile players this summer, namely French striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt and AC Milan’s ace goalkeeper Mike Maignan. The London club is looking to strengthen both ends of the game, instilling youth and experience in their squad ahead of the 2025-2026 Premier League season.

While the discussions for Ekitike appear hopeful, with personal terms mostly agreed upon, Eintracht Frankfurt’s expensive £84.3 million valuation has proven to be a stumbling point. The 22-year-old’s recent withdrawal from the France U21 Euro squad owing to a minor back issue has stoked talk of a move. Chelsea sees the young forward as a dynamic attacking asset with long-term prospects.

On the defensive end, Chelsea see 29-year-old Mike Maignan as a major solution to their goalkeeping problems. While AC Milan is reportedly seeking for roughly €30 million, Chelsea’s valuation is closer to €10 million, noting the goalkeeper’s contract duration and the club’s existing roster depth. Nonetheless, manager Enzo Maresca is ready to sign a goalkeeper who fits his tactical concept.

Chelsea’s transfer window approach, which includes continuous talks and intricate fee negotiations, indicates a commitment to long-term team development. The club is expected to offload surplus players to fund the big moves. If successful, these signings could mark the beginning of a new era at Stamford Bridge, fueled by youthful energy and strategic reinforcement.
