Sharjah EPAA Conducts Successful Raid on Illegal Wildlife Trade. Sharjah’s Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) executed a coordinated raid in the Al Buhayis area. This raid led to the confiscation of several illegally captured migratory birds and prohibited bird-calling devices.

It was a significant effort to safeguard endangered wildlife. Among the seized species were ten curlews and a houbara bustard. Both of these birds are endangered and protected by international conservation laws.

Alongside the birds, two bird-calling devices, intended to attract migratory species, were also taken. The use of these devices is strictly prohibited in Sharjah under Resolution No. (12) of 2014. This resolution bans the sale, possession, and use of equipment that could harm or unlawfully capture protected species.

The EPAA has issued a strong warning to the public. It urges the residents to avoid illegal bird-trapping methods that threaten species and disrupt natural migratory patterns. The authority is highly dedicated to protecting Sharjah’s biodiversity. It promised to take action against any violations that jeopardize local and migratory wildlife.
