With the holy month of Ramadan just around the corner, Saudi Arabian authorities have unveiled the ‘Discover Mecca’ map, a new initiative that will enable pilgrims and tourists to access major historical sites easily within the sacred city.
This interactive booklet will serve to enrich the spiritual and cultural experience of travelers through a wealth of important sites, such as:
Masjid al-Haram and the Kaaba, Islam’s holiest places.
The Maqam Ibrahim, where Prophet Ibrahim’s memory is attached.
The Cave of Hira, the location where the first revelation to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) occurred.
The Jannat al-Mu’alla graveyard, where numerous relatives of the Prophet lie buried.
The project is just one component of Saudi Arabia’s larger plan to enhance visitor services and offer a smooth pilgrimage experience to the millions that come for Umrah and Hajj. Featuring smart navigation and multi-lingual capabilities, the ‘Discover Mecca’ map makes it possible for pilgrims to discover the rich Islamic history of the city easily.
