Dubai Introduces Variable Salik and Parking Rates: Key Information You Should Know

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai is preparing to roll out its Variable Road Toll Pricing (Salik) and Variable Parking Tariff Policies as part of a comprehensive initiative to enhance traffic conditions and optimize transportation resources. These changes are expected to take effect in early 2025, to manage congestion and make better use of public spaces.

New Salik Toll Pricing Structure
Starting in January 2025, Salik tolls will be modified based on the time of day to improve traffic flow. Drivers can anticipate a toll of Dh6 during peak hours, which are defined as 6am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm on weekdays. During off-peak hours, from 10am to 4pm and 8pm to 1am, the toll will be reduced to Dh4. There will also be special toll-free hours from 1am to 6am, making it a convenient option for night travelers.

On Sundays, which are generally quieter, the toll will remain at Dh4 throughout the day, except during public holidays and major events when charges may vary. This new structure aims to distribute traffic more evenly throughout the day and alleviate congestion during peak times.

Parking Charges Set to Change
Beginning in March 2025, Dubai will introduce variable parking fees to align with the Salik changes. Premium parking spaces will be priced at Dh6 per hour during peak times from 8am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm. Other public parking areas will charge Dh4 per hour during these peak periods.

Parking rates during off-peak hours from 10am to 4pm and 8pm to 10pm will remain at Dh4 per hour. The night period, from 10pm to 8am, will be free, as will all-day parking on Sundays.
