The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai announced a hike in the minimum top-up on Nol cards used by Metro passengers, effective March 1. The hike will be applied for recharges done at ticket vending machines throughout Dubai.
The Nol card is required for users of public transport in Dubai, allowing access to Metro, buses, trams, and even car parks. While the new minimum top-up level has not been announced, the public is instructed to prepare themselves for the alteration and to check that their cards have enough credit for seamless journeying.
This step comes in line with RTA’s initiative to make payment processes easier and more efficient in Metro operations. Authorities suggest using alternative means of top-up like the Nol Pay app or online channels to prevent last-minute hassles at Metro stations.
Regular users and residents are urged to remain informed about official RTA updates in order to adjust to the new policy with ease. Failure to meet minimum top-up amounts could lead to travel inconvenience, compelling users to organize their recharges in advance.
