In a significant move towards sustainability and enhancing the city’s beauty, Dubai Municipality has completed seven projects. These projects are aimed at planting and improving key intersections and roadsides along Sheikh Zayed and Al Khail Roads. With an investment of AED 245 million. These projects span over 1.4 million square meters and showcase a remarkable variety of greenery, including 2.5 million flowers, ornamental plants, and 6,500 trees. The initiatives are intended to beautify some of Dubai’s most iconic locations, enriching the city’s aesthetic appeal while promoting environmental sustainability.
Key Projects Across Sheikh Zayed and Al Khail Roads
The recently finished projects concentrate on crucial intersections and segments along two of Dubai’s busiest thoroughfares, Sheikh Zayed and Al Khail Roads. The work involves the planting and beautification of two major intersections on Sheikh Zayed Road and three on Al Khail Road. Additionally, the roadsides of Sheikh Zayed Road will see extensive planting, covering a substantial area of 250,000 square meters. These projects aim to enhance Dubai’s visual identity and create green spaces that harmonize with the city’s urban landscape.
Commitment to Sustainability and Green Spaces
Dubai Municipality’s dedication to expanding green spaces throughout the city aligns with the broader vision established by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. These initiatives are a key part of the “Green Dubai Project,” a comprehensive effort aimed at promoting a more sustainable environment. By introducing millions of flowers and trees, the Municipality is actively working towards increasing the per capita green space in the city, ensuring that Dubai remains a livable, vibrant, and sustainable urban area.
