Dubai Police confiscated a car and issued severe fines following an unbelievable video of a child driving a moving vehicle while seated on the driver’s lap. The episode, which occurred on Dubai roads, raised serious doubts about child endangerment and road safety. Authorities reaffirmed that such reckless conduct will never be allowed under any circumstances.

The driver, whose name has not been revealed, now risks a Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points on their license, and the vehicle being seized immediately. Authorities emphasize that putting a child in charge of a moving car, even for a second, is a breach of UAE traffic regulations and a serious threat to all road users.

Dubai Police have appealed to parents and guardians to drive responsibly and have children safely buckled up in appropriate car seats. The force also cautions that any act of reckless driving, particularly acts that put children at risk, will be dealt with seriously by the law.

The UAE maintains strict road safety regulations, with the authorities utilizing AI monitoring and public reporting avenues to identify infringements. Dubai Police have also invited residents to report any unsafe driving behavior in order to continue the emirate’s status as one of the safest destinations for road users.
