A heartwarming moment unfolded when a Dubai inmate was granted permission to witness his daughter’s wedding contract signing through video conferencing. The General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments arranged this online connection to ensure he could be part of the special occasion.
The department prioritizes inmates’ emotional well-being by enabling them to share key life moments with their families, even from behind bars. This initiative highlights the importance of maintaining family bonds and offering inmates opportunities for emotional support.
A Memorable Connection
“When the family requested that the father join the marriage contract signing online, the approval was immediate,” said Major General Marwan Abdul Karim Julfar, Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments. “Through video conferencing, the inmate was able to witness the ceremony, fulfill the legal formalities with the officiant, and share this joyful milestone with his loved ones.”
The inmate expressed gratitude to the Dubai Police and all involved for allowing him to experience such a meaningful moment.
Supporting Inmates’ Emotional Well-Being
Major General Julfar emphasized the Dubai Police’s commitment to fostering inmates’ happiness by facilitating virtual communication with their families. This initiative is part of their broader efforts to boost inmates’ psychological stability and reinforce family ties.
“These programs are designed to reshape attitudes and behaviors, encouraging inmates to adopt socially and legally acceptable norms,” Julfar added. “They help prepare inmates for successful reintegration into society, promoting harmonious relationships with their families and communities.”
