Dubai Police recently impounded 17 vehicles and issued 101 fines to drivers engaging in reckless and disruptive behavior on Al Meydan Street. These violations included illegal vehicle use, generating excessive noise, and performing dangerous stunts that endangered lives and disrupted nearby residential areas.
Maj-Gen Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Acting Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations, emphasized that such actions pose significant risks to public safety and cannot be tolerated.
Strict Penalties and Vehicle Impoundment
Al Mazrouei explained that vehicles impounded face detention periods based on the severity of the offense, in addition to fines under the Federal Traffic and Roads Law.
“Under Decree No. 30 of 2023, violators must pay a release fee of up to Dh50,000 as part of strict measures to deter hazardous driving,” he stated.
Zero Tolerance for Traffic Violations
Dubai Police continues to warn against irresponsible driving practices, reinforcing their commitment to public safety and the emirate’s reputation. Al Mazrouei highlighted the force’s zero-tolerance policy, stating, “Some drivers persist in violating traffic laws, which calls for decisive action to ensure safety and uphold traffic security.”
Appeal to Young Drivers
Al Mazrouei particularly urged young drivers to follow traffic regulations, promoting safer roads across the emirate. The efforts are part of the awareness campaign #SafeRoadforEveryone, aimed at fostering a culture of responsible driving.
Reporting Reckless Behavior
To maintain public safety, Dubai Police encourages residents to report any negative traffic behavior. The “Police Eye” service on the Dubai Police smart app and the 901 hotline are available for this purpose.
Protecting Lives and Infrastructure
The police also warned against reckless driving, citing its impact on public safety, infrastructure, and the environment. Al Mazrouei assured the public that Dubai Police would continue taking strict legal measures, including referring violators to the judiciary.
