A focused safety initiative by Al Rifa’a Police Station has led to the confiscation of 1,780 electric scooters and bicycles for breaching traffic regulations. This effort, in partnership with the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, aims to enhance road safety and reduce reckless behavior.

Key Highlights of the Campaign
Mass Seizure:

1,417 bicycles and 363 electric scooters were taken into custody.
The violations included riding in areas not designated for such vehicles, like public roads and pedestrian pathways, putting both riders and other road users at risk.
Fines Issued:

A total of 251 fines were handed out for violations such as:
Not wearing helmets.
Disregarding traffic signals.
Riding without necessary safety features like reflective clothing and lights.
Ensuring Public Safety
Brigadier Ghaleb Abdullah Mohammed Al Ghafli, the acting director of Al Rifa’a Police Station, highlighted the critical need to enforce traffic laws for the safety of all road users. He remarked, “Such behaviors disrupt traffic and endanger lives. Dubai Police is committed to maintaining road safety through proactive enforcement and awareness initiatives.”

The increasing popularity of electric scooters and bicycles has created new challenges for managing urban traffic. Ignoring traffic laws can result in serious accidents, which has led Dubai Police to take strong measures.

Safety First: Important Tips for Riders
Use Designated Lanes: Always use the paths specifically marked for bicycles and scooters.
Wear Helmets: Helmets are required for your safety.
Equip with Safety Gear: Make sure your vehicle is equipped with lights and reflective gear, especially when riding at night.
Follow Traffic Signals: Always obey traffic signs and signals.
Conclusion
This campaign underscores the Dubai Police’s dedication to creating safer roads. By addressing reckless behaviors and raising public awareness, the initiative serves as a crucial reminder for all riders to prioritize safety and follow traffic regulations.

Stay informed, ride responsibly, and help make Dubai’s streets safer.
