Dubai Ride 2024, one of the most thrilling annual events in the city, is set to return this Sunday, November 10, and it promises to be more exciting than ever. Tens of thousands of cyclists will take to the streets, riding through Dubai’s breathtaking skyline and iconic landmarks as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC). This event will unite cycling fans of all ages and skill levels for a day filled with fitness and enjoyment.

New Routes, Road Closures, and Key Details for Dubai Ride 2024
As the fifth edition of Dubai Ride approaches, organizers have introduced several exciting updates, including new routes and changes to road closures to accommodate the large number of participants.

A highlight of this year’s event is the new family-friendly 4km Downtown route, which will guide cyclists along the iconic Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard. This picturesque route allows cyclists to ride past some of Dubai’s most renowned landmarks, such as the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Opera, and Dubai Mall.

For more experienced cyclists, the main 14km route will once again run along the famous Sheikh Zayed Road, enabling participants to cycle through the heart of Dubai, with the city’s skyscrapers soaring above. The roads will be closed to traffic, providing a unique chance to appreciate the city’s beauty from a completely different angle.

Road Closures & Alternative Routes
To ensure a smooth and safe event for all participants, there will be significant road closures in key areas across the city, including sections of Sheikh Zayed Road, Downtown Dubai, and Jumeirah Beach Road. Motorists are advised to steer clear of these areas during the event and consider the following alternative routes:

Sheikh Zayed Road will be completely closed to traffic from 6:00 am to 11:00 am.
Al Wasl Road will act as an alternate route for those traveling through the city.
Jumeirah Beach Road will also see partial closures, with diversions available via Jumeirah Lake Towers or Al Hadiqa Street.
Cyclists should be mindful of any changes to traffic patterns, as the city will be temporarily altered to accommodate the event. Organizers recommend that participants arrive early to avoid road disruptions.

Metro Timings and Transportation
For those planning to use public transportation, Dubai Metro will have extended hours on the event day. The Red Line will begin service at 5:00 am, with additional trains running to accommodate the expected crowds. The Dubai Mall Metro Station will be the best choice for those looking to join the 4km family-friendly route, while participants aiming for the longer route can use Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Station.

Special buses will also be available for those heading to the event, with drop-off points near Downtown Dubai and Sheikh Zayed Road. Be sure to check the latest updates on the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) website for the most accurate information regarding transport services.

What to Expect During Dubai Ride 2024
This year, Dubai Ride is anticipated to exceed last year’s record turnout of over 35,000 riders, making it one of the largest cycling events in the region. The event promises a fun, family-friendly atmosphere, featuring live entertainment, cycling challenges, and the chance to connect with fellow cyclists from all backgrounds.
