Dubai RTA Declares Two-Month Traffic Reroutes for Important Drainage Projects

In order to make significant improvements to the rainwater drainage system, the roadways and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has declared temporary traffic diversion on a number of important roadways. The two-month-long diversions are a part of the city’s continuous attempts to improve its infrastructure and lower the risk of flooding during periods of high precipitation.

The RTA claims that in order to maintain efficient traffic flow and reduce any inconvenience to regular commuters, alternate routes and conspicuous signage would be made available. The authority urges motorists to follow traffic signs, drive cautiously, and allow extra travel time during peak hours.

The RTA says the improvements are essential for increasing Dubai’s climate resilience. The drainage work is being done in regions that have historically experienced waterlogging during storms. The project will involve installing new pumping systems, manholes, and pipelines.

For real-time notifications and maps of impacted areas, residents are urged to stay informed via the RTA’s digital channels. To maintain efficiency and safety during the work period, the authority has liaised with Dubai Police and other organisations.
