Salik, the road toll system in Dubai, will implement time-of-day charges from 31 January, 2025. The variable toll structure would help in managing the traffic congestion with the variation of charges based on the time.
Under the new system, toll rates will be Dh6 during peak hours, which include the morning and evening rush periods. It is hoped that motorists will shift to off-peak hours in a bid to reduce overall congestion.
Salik also added a special tariff for the holy month of Ramadan. The company will provide low toll rates at less busy hours, as there will be changes in the daily routines of many during Ramadan.
This action is in line with the approach Dubai has been taking towards improving its traffic management and commuting experience. Efforts give room for a more sustainable and efficient urban infrastructure.
