Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has created a Dh16 billion Main Roads Development Plan for 2024-2027. It features 22 significant projects. They aim to enhance the city’s infrastructure. Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed reviewed the plan. He highlighted the focus on sustainability, efficiency, and modern mobility solutions. The RTA’s initiatives also include autonomous transport, AI-driven traffic management, and an expansion of public facilities. These facilities will help to meet the needs of Dubai’s growing population and economy.
The RTA is considering the introduction of a “Trackless Tram” system. It is an environmentally friendly and autonomous electric transport option. This system has been started for key areas in Dubai. The city’s extensive road network will see further expansion. New projects will be started on Latifa bint Hamdan Street and Al Mustaqbal Street. These projects will increase capacity and improve travel times throughout the city. The cycling tracks and pedestrian infrastructure will also be updated. There are efforts to connect coastal areas to inland routes.
The RTA’s vision includes dedicated lanes for buses and taxis. It will enhance commercial transport. A smart cycling track will encourage safe journeys for cyclists. To support these goals, the RTA is investing in Emirati talent. The investment is through academic scholarships and training in AI, IoT, and cybersecurity. The UAE administration is hiring and training the workforce for Dubai’s future tech-driven economy.
