Dubai: Visiting Global Village? Here Are 8 Rules You Might Not Know About

Every year, millions of residents and tourists flock to Dubai’s Global Village festival park, which opens during the UAE’s cooler months around October and closes before summer peaks. This vibrant destination attracts foodies, shoppers, and families for various reasons, from unique delicacies and dining experiences to exciting weekly fireworks and carnival rides. While viral TikToks and Instagram reels highlight must-see spots and offerings, it’s essential to review the park’s rules. Here’s a guide to what you need to know:

  1. No Outside Food or Drinks Allowed
If you picked up a snack or a soft drink from a convenience store on your way, you’ll need to finish them and dispose of the trash before entering. Outside food and beverages are not permitted inside the park.
  2. Flag Restrictions
While Global Village showcases cultural landmarks from around the world through its 30 country pavilions, visitors are only allowed to display the UAE flag. Anyone caught waving or showing flags other than those of the UAE may be asked to put them away.
  3. Leave Luggage Elsewhere
With many tourists visiting, some may arrive with travel luggage and suitcases. However, these bags are not allowed inside the park. Be prepared for bag inspections, which include X-ray checks.
  4. Dress Modestly
Both men and women should wear respectful attire. Ensure that your torso, shoulders, legs, and knees are covered at all times.
  5. No Wheeled Devices
Although the park’s vast open spaces may tempt kids to bring wheeled devices like scooters, bikes, or roller skates, these are not permitted unless rented inside the park.
  6. Leave Pets at Home
Pets, including dogs, cats, and even exotic animals, are not allowed in Global Village. Make sure to leave them at home for their safety and comfort.
  7. Limit Public Displays of Affection
While Global Village is a family-friendly destination, it’s also popular among couples. To respect local customs, avoid hugging or kissing in public areas, especially with children around.
  8. Obtain a Permit for Filming
Visitors can take photos and videos for personal use, but if you’re a media outlet, social media influencer, or student working on a project, you’ll need to acquire a permit. You can find the application form on the Global Village website.

By keeping these rules in mind, you can enjoy a memorable experience at Global Village while respecting the local culture and regulations!
