A woman in her 30s has been sentenced to five years in prison in Dubai for giving drugs to someone else to use. She was also fined Dh50,000 and will be deported after serving her sentence.
The Dubai Criminal Court found her guilty of supplying amphetamines and methamphetamines, which are controlled substances under UAE law, to a male acquaintance for free.
Timeline of Events
- April 2, 2024: Dubai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Department received a tip-off about a man using drugs in the Satwa area. The information also indicated he had narcotics in his possession.
- April 3, 2024: After confirming the tip-off, police obtained a warrant to arrest the man, search his home, and inspect his vehicle.
That evening, officers arrested the man, informed him of the charges, and took him to the Anti-Narcotics Department for questioning. A urine test later confirmed he had consumed amphetamine and methamphetamine.
The Suspect’s Confession
During interrogation, the man admitted to using the substances and revealed that he got the drugs for free from the woman. He confessed to receiving drugs from her twice. Police also searched his home and found four packets of crystal meth, which he admitted came from the same woman.

Further investigation revealed that the woman was already in police custody for a related drug case.
Court Proceedings
During the trial, the woman denied the charges and retracted her earlier confession. However, the court ruled that her confession during the prosecution’s investigation was voluntary and valid. The court dismissed her denial as an attempt to avoid responsibility.

The court sentenced the woman to five years in prison, fined her Dh50,000, and ordered her deportation from the UAE after completing her prison term.
