Dubai is redefining the future of air travel with its new airport project at Dubai World Central (DWC), where traditional baggage check-ins and long immigration queues may soon be relics of the past. According to Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, the vision is to create a “contactless airport” powered by cutting-edge technology.
The future airport experience will be centred on biometric screening, AI-based systems, and razor-thin processes. “Check-in at baggage will become a thing of the past and immigration done in the blink of an eye,” Griffiths has said, ensuring hassle-free journey from curb to gate.
The DWC mega hub will eventually take the place of Dubai International Airport (DXB) as the major gateway and have the capacity for 260 million passengers per annum. It is part of a larger scheme to accommodate the burgeoning tourism and logistics industries of Dubai in decades to come.
Experts consider that this step puts Dubai on the pedestal of a global benchmark for aviation innovation. Prioritizing sustainability, automation, and passenger ease at its forefront, DWC is all set to be not merely an airport — but the airport of the future.
