Between January and November 2024, Dubai welcomed over 200,000 cruise ship passengers, offering seamless assistance upon their arrival. Dubai Customs also managed 1.23 million bags for 281,775 passengers during this time, ensuring efficient services.

This milestone highlights Dubai Customs’ vital role in supporting the growth of maritime tourism, particularly at key ports like Port Rashid and Dubai Harbour. Their efforts focus on delivering smooth, world-class services that contribute to Dubai’s reputation as a global travel hub.

Khalid Ahmed, Director of the Passenger Operations Department at Dubai Customs, stated, “We are committed to supporting Dubai’s expanding tourism sector with innovative customs solutions that enhance the travel experience for air and sea passengers. Our work aligns with Dubai’s tourism goals and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.”

Dubai’s maritime tourism infrastructure has grown significantly, with Dubai Customs playing a key part in its success. By working closely with strategic partners, the department ensures exceptional services at cruise terminals, boosting Dubai’s status as a top tourist destination.

Falah Al Sammak, Senior Manager of Passenger Operations at Al Maktoum International Airport, emphasized the department’s focus on service innovation. “Dubai Customs is continuously enhancing its processes to provide smooth travel experiences at customs checkpoints, whether at Dubai International Airport or the city’s renowned maritime hubs. Dubai’s position as a global bridge between East and West demands high service standards year-round,” he said.

The 2024-2025 cruise season is expected to be record-breaking, with Dubai set to host some of the largest cruise liners in the world. To meet growing demand, Dubai Customs has introduced new solutions to ensure faster and more efficient services at cruise terminals, aiming to boost passenger satisfaction.

As Dubai solidifies its place as a leading global tourism hub, these enhanced services are key to offering visitors a smooth and memorable experience when arriving by sea.
