The Emirates NBA Cup trophy arrived in New York, kicking off the start of the Emirates NBA Cup 2024! After an exciting journey from Dubai, the trophy made a grand entrance on Emirates’ iconic A380, decked out in vibrant NBA-themed livery. As the Official Global Airline Partner of the NBA, Emirates celebrated the tournament’s opening with style.
The tournament began on November 12 and will culminate with a Championship game on December 17 in Las Vegas. Emirates unveiled its new NBA-themed A380 last month, featuring a bold blue fuselage and red engine cowls to honor the partnership.
NBA legend James Worthy accompanied the trophy on the flight, handing it over to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Emirates Senior VP Thierry Aucoc in New York, marking the tournament’s launch.
A Special NBA Experience in the Sky
Passengers on this unique flight enjoyed a basketball-themed cabin setup, with NBA-inspired food served in branded boxes, along with classic NBA games streaming on Emirates’ in-flight entertainment. First and Business Class passengers mingled with Worthy in the Onboard Lounge, savoring gameday treats like sliders, pizza, pretzels, and mini cupcakes decorated with NBA chocolates.
All passengers received exclusive NBA memorabilia, including replica models of the new NBA-themed A380, luggage tags, and photo frames.
