Emirati and Chinese Cultures Come Alive on Abu Dhabi Corniche at ‘Building Bridges to the Future’ Event

The UAE and China marked 40 years of diplomatic relations with a vibrant cultural event. It was hosted on the Abu Dhabi Corniche with the name of Building Bridges to the Future: UAE and China. This public celebration kicked off on November 2. It offered a captivating blend of Emirati and Chinese traditions, cuisine, and arts. It was for two days and offered interactive experiences for the visitors.

Dignitaries and Ceremonies

The event opened on November 1, 2024. It welcomed dignitaries from both nations. These dignitaries were UAE Minister of Culture and Youth Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi and Chinese Ambassador Zhang Yiming. They explored exhibitions on the UAE-China relationship. The event started with a warm reception. It featured the traditional Emirati Al Ayyala dance, along with Arabic coffee and dates.

The dignitaries visited the ‘Past’ section. It showed the partnership’s origins, and the ‘Present’ area. The exhibition highlighted a Walking Together theme. The walking-together theme includes martial arts demonstrations and cultural displays that symbolize unity.

Public Events and Activities

On November 2 and 3, the public was invited to enjoy a variety of live performances. These performances include interactive art workshops and culinary experiences. The Corniche buzzed with traditional Emirati and Chinese music. It featured the Emirati oud alongside martial arts displays like Tai Chi and Kung Fu. Additionally, workshops were also held on calligraphy, basket weaving, and hand-fan painting.

The events include the best lively dance and music performances. Fascinating food stalls were offering a taste of authentic Emirati and Chinese cuisine. The food stalls include traditional Emirati harees and popular Chinese dishes. Handmade crafts from both Emirati and Chinese artisans were also on display. These homemade crafts allowed the visitors to enjoy traditional artistry from both cultures.
