Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred is still causing destruction along Australia’s eastern coast, with lashing winds, heavy rain, and widespread power outages. The cyclone, since downgraded to a tropical depression, has left countless residents in the dark as emergency workers struggle to restore power.
Catastrophic flood warnings are still active for regions of Queensland and New South Wales, with residents being advised to remain indoors and steer clear of flooded roads. Gusty winds over 100 km/h have knocked down power cables and felled trees, adding to the challenges of recovery.
In spite of the downgrade, Alfred still unleashing heavy rainfalls, causing alarm over flash floods and landslides in susceptible regions. Meteorologists forecast the storm to slowly weaken but warn that unstable weather conditions may continue for a number of days.
Emergency response crews work around the clock to resupply power and deliver relief to the devastated communities. Coasters are under close watch since the storm belt is advancing southwards and has a possibility of generating further heavy rain and disruptions before it finally starts to subside.
