Ex-Formula 1 team owner and motorsport legend Eddie Jordan has died at the age of 76. The Irishman, whose claim to fame was setting up Jordan Grand Prix, announced in December that he was fighting both bladder and prostate cancer.
Jordan, whose career of helping to launch the careers of many F1 stars, including Michael Schumacher, came to an end, has left behind a permanent legacy in motor sport. His team famously won its first and only Grand Prix in Spa in 1998 and became popular with the fans for its underdog attitude.
Aside from racing, Jordan was famous for his colorful personality, quick business sense, and subsequent career as a well-liked F1 pundit and entrepreneur. Tributes have been coming in from around the motorsport world, praising his priceless contribution to Formula 1.
His passing is the end of an era for his fans and colleagues who respected Jordan’s love for racing and his unrelenting drive to drive the sport forward.
