Formula One is marking its 75th birthday in style through the restoration of some of its most legendary black-and-white footage to colourful full colour, roaring history back to life. The effort forms part of a grand tribute to the sport’s history and universal popularity.

F1 enthusiasts will now be able to enjoy iconic races and drivers from the 1950s and 60s in ways previously unimaginable, courtesy of state-of-the-art restoration and AI-assisted colourisation. Vintage highlights of the earliest winners and old Grand Prix action have been remastered digitally to the high-definition standard of races today.

This initiative highlights F1’s dedication to respecting its rich history while embracing cutting-edge technology. The restored images will be published in a special commemorative series, providing new generations of fans with a glimpse into the sport’s exciting beginnings.

The anniversary festivities also feature a series of interactive fan experiences, special merchandise, and tributes at future races during the 2025 season, making this milestone a celebration of speed, innovation, and heritage.
